about

Chloe: Despite being less than a minute long, this song took forever to record. By the end of it we were all like, "Fuck it, let's just get this done already." I had to scream this out and then record chorus vocals for the rap immediately following that. That was around 4am.
Eli D: This song, is about a dumb thing I did when we got to Dan A's house. I set up all the amplifiers in a row and plugged them all into one power strip in the basement. It looked awesome, but all the power cords and 1/4 inches got tangled together in a mess on the floor, and when i had to move one amp without unplugging it to record drums for "Suicide and Sunshine" (it still wasn't done at this point), the whole thing fell over and got double-tangled. The oft-repeated (by me) lesson of the experience was "this is what you get when you build a wall of amps." I said it so many times that Laini decided to write a Riot Grrrl! song about it.
Dan A: This song woke my dad up.
Laini: I've always wanted to be in a Riot Grrrl! band. This took longer than expected, and it left my throat sore, but was totally worth waking Dan A's dad up, and completing this awesome song. This was also the result of a conversation ending with We should write a song about that! The metaphor is that the wall is built up between two people growing apart. When Eli D. builds a wall of amps, this is what he gets, an angsty Riot Grrrl! song about him. By the end of this song, we weren't the angry ladies vs. the wall of amps, we were ladies angry and tired with this song.
Liv: I'm pretty proud of this short-song-that-took-a-ridiculously-long-time-to-record. And it's probably the only Riot Grrrl! song that my mom has liked and will ever like.
